Questions about carpet cleaning in Leicester and the East Midlands.
If you have light coloured carpet, you may have experienced these dark lines along the carpet’s edge. This soiling is called filtration soiling or draught marks because it comes from air passing through the carpet as it attempts to get through the crack between the carpet and the skirting board or under a closed door. As the air passes through the edge of the carpet pile, microscopic soiling is deposited there. This occurs over a significant period and is not noticeable until a build-up has occurred.
This type of soiling is difficult to remove because the soil particles are so fine that they penetrate deep into the carpet pile, sometimes into the backing of the carpet. Removing draught marks is a common request with both domestic and commercial cleaning services. With special products, time and effort, reasonable results can sometimes be achieved.
The most effective way to tackle these black marks is prevention. To help prevent filtration soiling, vacuum and wipe the edges of the carpeting regularly. Be careful around the tack strip on the edge of the carpeting — it could nick your fingers!
Yes, we are fully insured, but to give our clients additional peace of mind, we also have special risk insurance that protects us for shrinkage, colour loss or damage to any property. This covers domestic and commercial cleaning services.
The length of time a carpet takes to dry depends on a number of factors. Weather conditions, airflow, and the room’s temperature can determine how long it takes a carpet to dry, but typically it will be touch dry within a couple of hours and fully dry within four-six hours.
We are confident that all of our commercial and domestic cleaning services offer excellent value for money. However, if you do find a lower price, we guarantee to match any written quotation from a certified company offering carpet cleaning in Leicester.
Yes, our minimum charge is £45+ VAT(£54.00). This allows for equipment set up and all the cleaning products, including spotting stains and deodorising chemicals.
Yes as part of our domestic cleaning services we move general furniture such as sofas, regular dining tables, beds. To prepare for your clean, ensure all smaller objects and breakables are in a safe place. We cannot move any larger furniture or TVs.
Pet odour is a common problem. At MCS, we can help you deal with your pet challenges. From minor problems to major headaches, MCS can help find the solution that works best for you.
The problem with pet stains is they can be much deeper than they first appear. Pet urine can easily soak through the backing of the carpet into the underlay and in more severe cases, the urine can penetrate the sub-floor beneath the underlay. This creates a multilayered problem. Urine provides for the growth of bacteria and this, in turn, contributes to a worsening of the odour problem and can contribute to permanent colour loss of the carpet fibre.
To eliminate this problem, the urine must be removed or neutralised from each of the affected layers. If the contamination is limited to only the face of the carpet, then the cleaning itself may effectively remove the odour. In more severe cases, a urine neutraliser may be applied. In the most severe cases, replacing the carpet underlay and treating the underside of the carpet and the sub-floor may be required. Even replacement of the carpet, however, cannot guarantee complete removal of the odour.
If left untreated over time, pet odour can become absorbed into many of the porous materials in your home. Curtains, upholstered furniture, skirting boards, even the concrete foundation are just a few of the materials that can absorb these odours.
At MCS, we offer a range of solutions to help you with your pet odour problem as part of our carpet cleaning service in Leicester. In the long run, however, proper maintenance will be more effective than trying to eliminate damage and signs of wear caused by pets. After all, we love our pets and want to keep them a part of our family. Pet ownership adds to the challenge of maintaining a clean and healthy home. At MCS, we can help you meet those challenges.
No. In fact, many major carpet manufacturers recommend professional cleaning at least once per year. The build-up of soil in your carpet in combination with foot traffic creates abrasion that breaks down your carpet’s fibres. The higher the traffic in a given area, the more often the carpet will need cleaning. Annual maintenance of your carpet can help increase its lifespan and avoid long term damage.
