The Challenge: Maintaining High Cleaning Standards
South Charnwood High School, based in Markfield, Leicestershire, previously managed its cleaning services in-house. However, as the school expanded, it became increasingly difficult to maintain the high standards expected in an educational environment.
Key challenges included:
- Lack of management oversight — Maintaining consistency and high-quality standards became difficult without dedicated cleaning management.
- Sickness and holiday cover gaps — Finding immediate cover was a challenge when in-house cleaners were unavailable.
- Need for structured audits and training — Regular inspections and ongoing staff development were not in place.
- Inconsistent deep cleaning routines — Areas such as carpets and windows required more frequent and thorough cleaning.
To address these concerns, the school decided to outsource its cleaning operations in 2017, selecting MCS Cleaning & Maintenance to take over the contract.
